Do you live in a world where everything has it’s place and everything is in it’s place? Are you that organized? Guess what you can get paid for that skill. It’s called being a professional organizer and it pays well.
Professional organizers are needed because people accumulate stuff and that stuff becomes clutter and that clutter slowly strangles the owner of all that stuff. To combat clutter, items are gathered and sorted into piles, categorized and stored away neatly. Sounds simple, but a lot of people have a hard time dealing with their own stuff and it becomes overwhelming. Turns out this is why professional organizers get paid.
Clutter exists throughout the home. You can organize closets, kitchens, bathrooms, laundries, and garages. You can also organize paperwork and bills. You can charge by the hour or job. I suggest if you charge by the hour, then having a three or four hour minimum charge. This will give you the time to do the job right and make it worth your time. How much you charge depends on the market and the organizing job. Use Home Advisor or Angie’s List to determine the hourly rate in your market.
Most of what you need is talent, but a few supplies are needed too. Check out my guide for suggestions. You are not only providing relief from clutter to your client, your service is also saving them money too, because when you are organize the clutter into sorted piles of similar items you are pointing out where the client has too much of one thing and maybe not enough other. In other words you are making the client more efficient and efficiency saves them time, energy, and money.
As always, accept multiple forms of payment, give the client only your best service. advertise before and after pictures on social media. Don’t forget to ask for 5 star reviews.
